About The Role

This position offers an exciting opportunity to join BlackRock’s SMA Solutions team, focusing on delivering innovative fintech solutions that enhance portfolio management and client experience. As a Full Stack Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and evolving the Arya platform, a modern fintech system designed to support portfolio construction, direct indexing, and investment management. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable, reliable, and high-performance microservices and web applications. You will leverage AI-assisted development tools and automation frameworks to accelerate development cycles, improve code quality, and foster a culture of continuous innovation. The environment is agile, with two-week sprints, providing a dynamic setting where collaboration, creativity, and technical excellence are highly valued. This role is ideal for engineers passionate about full-stack development, AI integration, and creating impactful financial technology solutions for a diverse global client base.

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, and design patterns
  • Proven experience in full stack web development across modern front-end and back-end ecosystems
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software engineering roles
  • Proficiency in modern object-oriented programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, Kotlin, or Swift
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions

Preferred

  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Windsurf/Devin, Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot
  • Hands-on experience working in cloud environments like AWS or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization technologies

Note: For candidates in San Francisco, CA, the salary range is USD 132,500 to USD 162,000. Additional benefits include discretionary bonuses, healthcare, retirement plans, and other employee benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end features across the full technology stack, including front-end interfaces, back-end microservices, and data layers
  • Build and optimize microservices that support investment portfolio construction, direct indexing, and related solutions
  • Deploy and manage services within a Kubernetes-based cloud environment, ensuring scalability and reliability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues promptly, maintaining high system availability
  • Continuously modernize platform components by adopting new technologies and best practices
  • Leverage AI coding assistants and automation workflows to accelerate development, testing, and debugging processes while maintaining high engineering standards
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver innovative features aligned with client needs
  • Participate actively in agile ceremonies, code reviews, and knowledge sharing sessions to foster a culture of excellence
