We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Software Engineer to join our team and help define the next generation of physical operations technology. Samsara operates at the intersection of hardware, software, AI, and the physical world, processing over 25 trillion data points annually from IoT sensors, cameras, and connected devices. Our datasets are growing rapidly, and we are still early in transforming this data into groundbreaking products that will revolutionize how organizations maintain equipment, manage fleets, and optimize day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building impactful software solutions from scratch, working on complex, mission-critical systems that directly influence real-world outcomes.
This role offers broad flexibility in leveling, from Senior to Principal, and is open to candidates residing in Canada. It is a remote position, with no relocation assistance provided. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on high-impact projects, leveraging AI and ML to create scalable, innovative products that solve real operational challenges. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and customer success, to translate ambiguous problems into clear technical solutions. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of experience in software design and development, including scaling production systems
- Strong full-stack development skills across backend services, APIs, and frontend (web or mobile)
- Proven experience leading cross-team or cross-organization projects from inception to deployment
- Experience building AI-powered or data-driven products, with the ability to translate AI capabilities into customer-centric solutions
- Excellent communication skills, capable of bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Track record of developing zero-to-one products, systems, or solving complex problems
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of complex, mission-critical systems and drive their development with minimal supervision
- Define and execute technical strategy for new products and platform capabilities, including backend services, APIs, and user interfaces
- Design, develop, and ship full-stack features end-to-end, potentially across web and mobile platforms
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and customer-facing teams to translate real-world problems into technical solutions with measurable impact
- Build scalable systems supporting AI-driven products, including data ingestion pipelines, APIs, and workflows that empower operators with actionable intelligence
- Conduct code reviews, design reviews, and provide technical mentorship to elevate team standards and practices
