The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, delivering, and supporting complex capabilities across the iT1 Nucleos AchieveDXP platform. This position serves as a senior individual contributor with broad full-stack ownership and is accountable for translating ambiguous business and technical requirements into secure, reliable, production-ready solutions. The role supports the continued scale of a digital experience platform used by education, workforce, and justice-sector programs and is expected to expand in technical scope, mentorship, and leadership responsibility as the engineering organization grows.
Essential Functions:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support production features across the full technology stack, including a React and TypeScript front end, Node.js and Express APIs, PostgreSQL, a Rust network-proxy layer, and the AchieveDXP content-integration framework.
- Own significant platform components and technical initiatives from architecture and design through implementation, deployment, monitoring, reliability, and ongoing improvement.
- Develop and operationalize AI-enabled capabilities, including large language model features, agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluations, model selection, guardrails, and secure data-handling patterns.
- Maintain secure and reliable services for multi-tenant, per-facility deployments in Azure Kubernetes environments using technologies such as Helm, Terraform, ArgoCD, containers, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, engineering standards, code reviews, testing practices, technical documentation, and the identification and resolution of platform risks.
- Partner with product, implementation, customer-facing, and engineering stakeholders to clarify requirements, explain technical tradeoffs, and deliver solutions that address user and business needs.
- Participate in the redesign and continued scaling of AchieveDXP to support increased usage and expansion into adult education and workforce development programs.
- Mentor engineers, share technical knowledge, and help strengthen a distributed, high-trust engineering culture.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
