About The Role
Tapestry Solutions, a part of Boeing Global Services, is seeking a Software Engineer in Maryland Heights, MO, to support future franchise programs. This role involves software development for the next-generation Mission Planning system designed for the Department of Defense. As a key member of a software development scrum team, you will follow the SAFe
Agile methodology to produce weapon planning software that leverages a microservices architecture. The front-end development primarily utilizes
JavaScript and
React, while the back-end services are predominantly built using
C#. Your contributions will directly impact the development of critical defense systems, ensuring they are reliable, efficient, and aligned with mission requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, experience working within
agile teams, and a passion for creating innovative solutions in a defense or aerospace environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on mission-critical systems that have a significant impact on national
security and defense operations.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, data science, or a related field, along with at least five years of relevant software development experience. Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance is required. Candidates should have proficiency in programming languages such as
JavaScript,
TypeScript,
React,
C#, and/or C++, and experience developing and utilizing RESTful APIs. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent communication abilities, are essential for collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams including systems engineers, hardware engineers, and program managers.
Experience with
Agile development methodologies, project tracking tools like Jira or
Azure DevOps, and version control systems such as
Git is required. Candidates should also be comfortable with documenting software designs, interface specifications, and test plans, ensuring clarity and maintainability of the software products.
Preferred qualifications include extensive experience—ideally over nine years—in software development, prior work on defense or aerospace projects, understanding of cyber
security principles, and familiarity with open architecture and modular system design. Knowledge of
.NET MAUI and secure coding practices relevant to mission-critical systems will be considered advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of weapon planning software throughout its entire lifecycle.
- Collaborate with the Product Owner to review, analyze, and translate customer requirements into initial software designs.
- Develop, maintain, enhance, and optimize software functionalities for system integrations, ensuring robustness and scalability.
- Create and maintain documentation for architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs to facilitate clarity and future development.
- Debug and resolve technical issues promptly to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.
- Participate in troubleshooting activities, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions.
- Assist in establishing, monitoring, and improving software development processes to enhance productivity and quality.
- Contribute to the development of test plans, perform unit and integration testing, and validate system-level performance in complex environments.

The salary range for this position is approximately $105,000 to $128,140, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
