About the project: The guardians of space

We develop an innovative space technology platform designed to enhance Space Situational Awareness (SSA) and space safety through a global network of ground optical sensors (telescopes) and advanced software systems. The platform enables real-time space object tracking, analysis, and visualization of satellites and space debris, providing critical insights for collision avoidance and orbit management. Built on modern microservices architectures, our solutions integrate real-time data processing, AI-driven analytics, and secure cloud-edge infrastructures.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a back-end software engineer who is proactive, mindful of deadlines, pays attention to the details, and takes pride in their quality of work. As part of the edge team, you will be responsible for the software that runs directly on our telescope sites – controlling physical devices, processing scientific image data in real time, and making autonomous scheduling decisions throughout the night. This involves maintaining and evolving a Python-based telescope control software system along with a real-time image analysis pipeline. The person should be passionate and experienced with Python development, comfortable working across the full depth of a system, from hardware communication to data processing and delivery. Ideal candidate should also not be hesitant to explore other technologies when needed.

Day-to-day activities:

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable Python features and robust bug fixes
• Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency, writing unit tests.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing systems.
• Conduct and participate in constructive peer code reviews.
• Communicate development progress with the rest of the team.
• Research and utilize new technologies to maximize development efficiency.

You are just the right fit if you have:

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar field experience.
• At least 2 years of professional experience programming with Python.
• Solid understanding of software design principles.
• Expertise building and consuming RESTful APIs using FastAPI or Flask.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Experience with event message brokers.
• Experience with multiprocessing and multithreading.
• Experience with unit and integration testing.
• Hands-on experience with cloud providers(Azure, AWS and etc.)
• A good understanding and knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficient English level.

Bonus points:

• Experience with embedded software systems.
• Familiarity with the scientific Python stack – scipy, matplotlib, scikit-learn (used for clustering, statistical filtering, curve fitting)
• Experienced with time series databases (for example InfluxDB).
• AI Assisted Development – Leverage Claude Code and advanced AI coding tools
