About The Role

The Mid-Level Backend Developer (AWS) will play a crucial role in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining modern web and mobile applications. This position requires a skilled professional with expertise in AWS cloud services, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js, and database management. The developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performance software solutions tailored to federal agency needs. Responsibilities include troubleshooting application issues, optimizing performance, participating in technical design discussions, and conducting code reviews. The role offers a hybrid work environment in the Washington D.C. Metro Area, with an emphasis on continuous learning and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software development
• At least 3 years of experience working with JavaScript and React UI development
• At least 3 years of experience developing back-end services with Node.js
• Minimum of 2 years of experience utilizing AWS cloud tools and services
• At least 1 year of experience writing SQL and managing relational databases
• Strong understanding of complex business processes and their integration with IT systems
• Proven ability to research, diagnose, and resolve technical issues
• Quick learner with a passion for technology and continuous improvement
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain web and mobile applications utilizing React, React Native, JavaScript/TypeScript, and AWS services
• Create and optimize RESTful APIs and integrate with relational and non-relational databases
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and deliver scalable solutions
• Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and best practices implementation
• Troubleshoot and resolve application performance issues and bugs
• Implement security best practices to ensure application integrity and data protection
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts through documentation, testing, and process enhancements
• Stay current with emerging technologies and incorporate them into projects as appropriate
