About us

PlayPickleball helps people discover, play and organize pickleball. We’re building consumer mobile and web experiences alongside software that helps facilities, coaches and tournament organizers manage their programs and events.

We’re an early-stage startup with a small team, backed by Selkirk, a leading brand in pickleball. That gives us access to an established industry network, partnerships and insights from the people who play and run the sport.

You’ll help shape the products we build, take ownership of meaningful features and see your work used by real players and organizers. With a small team and direct user feedback, your contribution will have a visible impact.

The role

You'll work across our React frontend, Flutter app and Python backend, owning features end to end — from mobile UI through the API and data model.

What you'll do

  • Build and ship features in our Flutter app for iOS and Android
  • Develop and maintain Python services running on Cloud Run
  • Model and query data across Firestore and Cloud SQL (Postgres)
  • Design clean REST endpoints shared by our web and mobile clients
  • Work on cross-platform auth and session flows spanning web and native
  • Help shape the roadmap — on a team this size, engineering has a real voice

What we're looking for

  • ~3–5 years of professional software development experience
  • Production experience with Flutter and Dart
  • Strong Python fundamentals and experience building HTTP APIs
  • Cloud platform experience; GCP and Firebase a strong plus
  • Comfort owning work in an agile environment

Nice to have

  • Firebase depth (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Hosting)
  • CI/CD — Cloud Build, GitHub Actions
  • App Store and Play Store release experience
  • Payments or marketplace integrations
  • You play pickleball, or you're willing to learn

Compensation and benefits

  • Compensation benchmarked to local markets
  • Equity in an early-stage company
  • Full benefits
  • Fully remote, wherever you are — we hire internationally and are set up to work across time zones. Overlap with US hours helps, but we care more about finding the right person than about your location

How to apply

Send a resume and a short note about something you've built to [email / application link] — include your location and time zone. If you have public code, a shipped app, or a side project you're proud of, point us at it — that tells us more than a cover letter.

PlayPickleball is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
