About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Drupal Technical Lead to join Axon Moore’s dynamic
web development team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the technical architecture and development of enterprise-level Drupal
applications. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction of high-profile digital projects, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and performant. This position involves working closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and translating them into robust technical solutions. Additionally, the role provides an excellent platform for mentoring junior developers, conducting code reviews, and promoting best practices across the team.
The Drupal Technical Lead will play a vital role in delivering innovative digital solutions, guiding the team through complex technical challenges, and maintaining high standards of
security and accessibility. The role is remote, with occasional travel to Birmingham, London, Cardiff, or Swansea, providing flexibility while maintaining close collaboration with the team and stakeholders.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess strong professional experience in Drupal development, particularly with Drupal 10 and above. A solid background in
PHP development, coupled with experience in modern development pipelines, is essential. Candidates should hold a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or demonstrate equivalent professional experience. Certifications in Drupal or
web technologies are advantageous, as is familiarity with
cloud hosting platforms such as AWS or
Azure. Excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience in leading technical projects or mentoring developers are also critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of enterprise-level Drupal applications, ensuring they meet high standards of security, performance, and accessibility.
- Design and develop complex backend systems using PHP and Drupal 10+ frameworks, integrating modern front-end solutions with TypeScript, Twig, and Tailwind CSS.
- Implement best practices for web security, scalability, and performance optimization across all projects.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Conduct thorough code reviews, promote development best practices, and ensure code quality across the team.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, interpret business needs, and translate them into detailed technical specifications.
- Manage source control and deployment workflows using tools such as Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins to streamline development and release cycles.
- Utilize Composer, Drush, and DDEV for dependency management and development environment setup, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
- Support the implementation of SEO and web accessibility standards to enhance user experience and compliance.
- Produce clear, comprehensive technical documentation to facilitate ongoing support and future development efforts.
- Participate actively in an Agile development environment, contributing to continuous process improvements and team collaboration.
