About The Role

The Full-stack Developer role at Nelnet is a pivotal position responsible for building and enhancing the next-generation platform within the lending industry. The successful candidate will work closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and develop scalable, cloud-native solutions using microservices architecture and advanced technologies. The role involves designing, delivering, and evolving applications through hands-on development, configuration, quality assurance, and prototyping. The developer will participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and deployment, while promoting best practices and architectural initiatives. Collaboration with product and design teams is essential to craft exceptional user experiences and ensure solutions meet both short-term needs and long-term strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience delivering enterprise-level web applications
  • At least 3 years of recent experience working with ES6/7 JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar technologies
  • 3 years of experience building single-page applications with frameworks such as React, Angular, Ember, or equivalent
  • Previous experience developing microservices architectures
  • Experience in building, maintaining, and evolving development processes and environments (SCM, CI/CD, build tools, deployment systems)
  • Proficiency in cloud-based development, including environment management and deployment
  • Solid understanding of testing methodologies, including unit, functional, stub, and end-to-end testing
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs and full web technology stacks (HTTP, cookies, caching, asset loading)
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitLab, or GitHub
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies including Material.io, HTML5, CSS3, SASS/LESS, Bootstrap, and cross-browser development
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, core JavaScript concepts, asynchronous programming, and promises
  • Ability to write clean, scalable, and high-performance code
  • Desire to learn continuously and share knowledge with team members
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities
  • Experience with database design, complex queries, and best practices
  • Experience architecting solutions from infrastructure to application levels
