About the Company
Marigold is a marketing technology company that helps businesses build stronger customer relationships through its three core platforms: Emma, Campaign Monitor, and Vuture. Its solutions support email marketing, SMS campaigns, and marketing automation, helping organizations improve customer engagement and achieve meaningful results. Marigold is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, with offices in Sydney and London.
About the Role
Marigold is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join the Campaign Monitor product team. In this role, you will work within an autonomous, multidisciplinary team alongside UX designers, Product Managers, and fellow engineers to build reliable customer experiences and develop systems that can support continued growth.
You will contribute across the software development lifecycle, from defining requirements and making architectural decisions to implementation, testing, deployment, and long-term maintenance. As a senior member of the team, you will help improve code quality through reviews and mentorship, make informed technical trade-offs, and take ownership of problems beyond the initial implementation.
The technology stack primarily includes C#, JavaScript, SQL, and Java. The team is also transitioning parts of its front end from Backbone.js to React, giving you the opportunity to contribute to both existing applications and newer development initiatives. The role includes participation in an on-call rotation to support the software you help build.
Key Responsibilities
● Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications and services for the Campaign Monitor platform.
● Build and support event-driven microservices and APIs within a distributed architecture.
● Develop dynamic web applications using technologies such as React, Node.js, and Backbone.js.
● Contribute to the ongoing migration from Backbone.js to React.
● Help develop and maintain AWS infrastructure using services such as EC2, ECS, SNS/SQS, RDS, ElastiCache, and Elasticsearch.
● Work on event-streaming and big-data solutions involving technologies such as Kafka and Spark.
● Extend and improve existing product features while supporting new development initiatives.
● Participate in architecture discussions and help make technical decisions that support scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
● Review code, provide constructive feedback, and mentor other engineers to maintain high development standards.
● Use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, reviewing, and refactoring while applying independent judgment to design, correctness, and security.
● Make data-informed technical decisions and use instrumentation to understand application behavior and performance.
● Collaborate with Product Managers, UX designers, and engineers to clarify requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver customer-focused solutions.
● Take ownership of software throughout its lifecycle, including ongoing maintenance and participation in the on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
● At least 10 years of experience as a software developer.
● A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or at least 3 additional years of relevant industry experience in place of the degree.
● Fluency in at least two programming languages, preferably including C#, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
● Comfort using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor to write, review, and refactor code.
● The ability to independently evaluate code quality, design decisions, correctness, and security when using AI development tools.
● Familiarity with different storage technologies, including SQL, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, and RDS offerings, and the ability to select suitable solutions for different use cases.
● Experience with data-driven decision-making and instrumentation techniques.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document technical decisions and collaborate through interactive discussions.
● A collaborative approach to teamwork and a willingness to contribute to shared product and engineering goals.
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience with event-streaming architecture and stream processing technologies such as Kafka and Spark.
● Strong infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform.
● Willingness and ability to learn other infrastructure provisioning and configuration tools as needed.
Work Arrangement and Interview Process
● Work arrangement: Fully remote.
● Working hours: Flexible.
● Interview process: Primarily remote, with one stage conducted in person.
