About The Role

In the Ontada division, part of McKesson, we are dedicated to becoming the leading information platform for applied precision medicine. Our interdisciplinary team merges genomics, healthcare, data analytics, web development, and cloud computing to serve research, clinical development, pathology, and clinical care customers working with high-dimensional genomic and biomedical data. Many of the most advanced organizations in precision medicine are powered by our Genospace platform.

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join the Genospace team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to solve novel problems and contribute to building and delivering our software platform that is used globally by clinicians and researchers to improve patient outcomes. Your work will directly impact the healthcare landscape by enabling personalized medicine, advancing research, and supporting clinical decision-making.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about healthcare technology, eager to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and committed to developing innovative solutions that address complex biomedical challenges. As part of our team, you will be involved in designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting web-based, cloud-hosted applications that are critical to advancing precision medicine.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience in software development.
  • Proven experience in building web applications or data processing systems.
  • Familiarity with web technologies and proficient in at least one common programming language.
  • Experience with front-end technologies, back-end development, and database systems.
  • Demonstrable ability to design software solutions that meet both functional and technical requirements and communicate these designs effectively.
  • Creative and critical thinking skills to analyze problems and collaborate with product owners, data scientists, and designers to develop effective solutions.

Additional Helpful Qualifications Include

  • An interest in impacting healthcare and clinical research through technological innovation.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork, humility, and continuous learning.
  • Familiarity with our technology stack, including:
  • Front End - Vue.js
  • Back End - Java, Groovy, Grails, Kafka, Micronaut
  • Data Tier - MongoDB, Elasticsearch
  • Professional or academic experience in healthcare, biology, genomics, or related fields is a plus.

Educational requirements include a 4-year degree in computer science, engineering, or a related STEM field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain features within our web-based, cloud-hosted applications to support precision medicine initiatives.
  • Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and collaborate with team members to enhance software quality and performance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering processes, tools, and platform architecture.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, data scientists, and clinicians to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Ensure software solutions are scalable, reliable, and secure, adhering to best practices and industry standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of code, architecture, and processes to facilitate knowledge sharing and future development.

Compensation is determined based on experience, skills, performance, and market conditions, with a pay range for this position of $87,600 to $146,000 annually. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may receive bonuses and long-term incentives.
