Overview

We are seeking a skilled C#/.NET Developer to join our team supporting the Veterans Health Administration's financial systems. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade software solutions that enhance financial operations across the VHA. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable applications that support modernization efforts and compliance standards. Education Requirements

A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

Clearance Requirements

This role requires a Public Trust clearance. The ability to obtain and maintain this clearance is necessary for this opportunity.

Work Arrangement

This is a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain complex C#/.NET applications, services, APIs, and financial system components that meet functional and non-functional requirements
  • Design and implement scalable application architectures, integration patterns, and data flows supporting VHA Finance systems and modernization efforts
  • Create and refine application designs, including class structures, service interfaces, database interaction layers, and enterprise integration components
  • Engineer high-quality, secure, testable, and maintainable code using modern .NET development practices, patterns, and frameworks
  • Develop and optimize RESTful APIs, message-based integrations, and event-driven processes supporting financial operations and data exchange
  • Implement automated build, test, and deployment pipelines leveraging Azure DevOps or equivalent CI/CD tools to ensure consistent and reliable delivery
  • Collaborate closely with business analysts, testers, product owners, and engineering teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Support modernization efforts by incorporating cloud services, containerization, and modular application patterns consistent with enterprise architecture standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across environments, ensuring performance, reliability, stability, and security compliance
  • Participate in code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior developers to strengthen engineering capabilities
  • Ensure adherence to security practices, data protection controls, and federal compliance standards relevant to financial systems
  • Engage with stakeholders across mission, technical, and client teams to align software development with regulatory, operational, and enterprise objectives

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of hands-on software development experience, including significant experience in C# and the .NET ecosystem (Framework and .NET Core/6+/7+)
  • Expertise in designing and implementing enterprise applications, services, and integration solutions using C#, .NET, Web APIs, and related technologies
  • Experience with SQL Server, Entity Framework, stored procedures, and designing performant data interaction layers
  • Strong understanding of secure coding practices, authentication/authorization patterns, and enterprise security standards
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, version control (Git), and modern DevOps practices
  • Ability to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience supporting or working with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), VHA, VBA, or VA financial/health IT systems

Desired Skills

  • Experience supporting financial systems, federal financial operations, or enterprise-scale accounting workflows
  • Experience with Azure services (App Services, Functions, Service Bus, Key Vault, Azure SQL, containers)
  • Familiarity with distributed system architecture, message queues, event-driven workflows, and microservice patterns
  • Experience working with healthcare, Federal, DoD, or enterprise modernization initiatives
  • Knowledge of automated testing frameworks (xUnit, NUnit, MSTest) and UI test automation tools
  • Understanding of financial data structures, ledger management, reconciliation workflows, or transaction processing
