About The Role

We are seeking a talented Java Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic Investment Experience Technology team within USAA's Technology group. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing high-impact solutions for our new investment services platform. Working in a fast-paced, agile environment, you will collaborate with a passionate team to deliver scalable, high-quality software that enhances our digital investment solutions. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with modern technologies, including Go, Java, APIs, and OpenShift, to develop innovative tools that empower our members and financial advisors. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and a commitment to delivering seamless digital experiences.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, with at least four years of software development experience demonstrating depth in relevant technologies. Candidates with approved certifications from recognized coding bootcamps such as CodeUp, Galvanize, VetFIT, or eFIT are also encouraged to apply. Essential qualifications include two or more years of experience delivering solutions across all phases of the software development lifecycle, including leading code and design reviews. A basic understanding of programming languages such as Java, Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL, Go, and Python is required. Additionally, candidates should have foundational knowledge of cloud technologies and tools, troubleshooting experience, and the ability to articulate complex technical challenges effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, code, and test complex technical solutions aligned with project requirements and architecture standards.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues within applications and systems, including production support and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct comprehensive systems analysis to identify operational improvements and recommend policy or procedural changes.
  • Prepare and install complex solutions by defining system specifications, standards, and programming requirements.
  • Adhere to the software development lifecycle, ensuring quality, security, and compliance standards are met.
  • Participate in design reviews, contribute to system design principles, and stay current with industry best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and review peer code to promote best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, monitored, and managed in compliance with risk management policies.
