Vaughan Technology Services is looking for a Senior Web Developer / Technical Lead to lead the development of modern web applications while managing and mentoring a small development team.

This is a full-time hybrid position, with two days per week working from our office and the remaining days available remotely.

You’ll be responsible for both hands-on development and technical leadership. You’ll manage a three-person development team, oversee projects from planning through deployment, make technical decisions, and ensure that projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 4+ years of professional experience developing modern web applications
• 2+ years of experience leading developers, projects, or technical initiatives
• Experience with modern full-stack frameworks such as Next.js, SvelteKit, Remix, Nuxt, or similar
• Strong understanding of modern component-based application architecture
• Experience building and integrating REST and/or GraphQL APIs
• Experience with modern databases such as PostgreSQL, Supabase, Firebase, or equivalent
• Strong experience with Git and GitHub and collaborative development workflows
• Experience deploying production applications using platforms such as Vercel, AWS, Azure, Cloudflare, or similar
• Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, and modern deployment pipelines
• Experience with modern styling systems such as Sass/SCSS, Tailwind CSS, CSS Modules, or similar
• Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, security, and responsive application development
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects on schedule
• Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and leadership skills

Your Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a 3-person development team
• Take ownership of web development projects from initial planning through deployment
• Manage project timelines, priorities, task assignments, and delivery
• Make architectural and technical decisions across projects
• Review code and maintain high standards for quality, security, and maintainability
• Work directly with clients and internal stakeholders to define requirements and technical solutions
• Build and ship modern web applications using current technologies and development practices
• Identify technical risks, solve complex problems, and remove blockers for the development team
• Establish and improve development workflows, coding standards, and deployment processes
• Stay current with emerging web technologies, AI-assisted development tools, and modern engineering practices
• Balance hands-on development with team leadership, spending meaningful time both writing code and leading the team

Leadership Expectations

This is not a role where you’ll simply receive tickets and write code.

As Technical Lead, you’ll be responsible for the technical direction and day-to-day coordination of a three-person development team. You’ll assign work, review progress, mentor developers, make architectural decisions, communicate with stakeholders, and ensure projects move from idea to production successfully.

We’re looking for someone who can write excellent code, make good technical decisions, and lead a team effectively.

Work Arrangement

Full-time · Hybrid · 2 days per week in office

The successful candidate will work closely with the development team in person two days each week, with the flexibility to work remotely for the remainder of the week.
