Role Description This full-time remote Entry-Level Software Developer role at Economia e Politica Florestal - UFSM focuses on supporting the design, development, and maintenance of software solutions that assist research and operational activities. The developer collaborates with senior team members to implement back-end features, fix bugs, and improve system performance. Daily tasks include writing clean, well-documented code, participating in code reviews, and contributing to testing and debugging processes. The role also involves working with databases, integrating APIs, and updating existing applications based on stakeholder feedback. The developer is expected to follow established development standards, learn new tools and frameworks, and communicate progress clearly in virtual meetings.
Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge in Computer Science and Software Development, with an understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.
• Practical experience or coursework in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), including writing modular, reusable, and maintainable code.
• Exposure to Back-End Web Development, such as working with server-side languages, frameworks, APIs, and database integration.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly, follow coding standards, and apply version control tools (e.g., Git).
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to troubleshoot and debug issues independently and collaboratively.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to operate in a remote, multidisciplinary, and academic environment.
• Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field is preferred.
• Interest in environmental, economic, or forestry-related applications of technology is an advantage but not required.
