Referment is working with a software business serving professional-services firms. This role sits within the team behind a cloud-based legal practice-management product and focuses on modernising an established application while continuing to deliver useful features for law-firm customers.

You will work across backend services and browser-based interfaces, with particular relevance for engineers who know PHP and want to move a product towards modern serverless backend technologies and React components.

The Role

• Build product features and enhancements using maintainable code and SOLID design principles.
• Collaborate with Product Management and Customer Success to understand needs and shape effective solutions.
• Troubleshoot issues, balancing immediate fixes with durable improvements.
• Increase unit-test coverage, automate manual work and contribute to code review and documentation.
• Lead technical projects and coach other software engineers.
  
  

What We're Looking For

• At least three years developing SaaS or e-commerce web applications.
• Strong experience in a modern backend language; PHP is preferred, with Ruby, Java or Python also relevant.
• ES6 and TypeScript experience plus React or Angular knowledge.
• Cloud-platform experience, relational databases and data modelling.
• Understanding of full-cycle engineering practices including testing, source control, build and operations.
