Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• You'll design, build, test and maintain software that contributes to intuitive and dependable user help experiences.
• You'll independently deliver well-scoped engineering work, prioritising effectively with a moderate level of guidance and direction.
• You'll analyse technical problems, consider possible solutions and use precedent and judgement to select an appropriate approach.
• You'll collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners to understand user and product needs and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• You'll contribute to code reviews and team engineering practices, incorporating feedback and helping maintain a high standard of quality.
• You'll investigate issues within your area of ownership and contribute to solutions that improve the reliability and effectiveness of the user experience.
• You'll continue developing your engineering craft by learning from other Canvanauts and gaining exposure to systems and roles related to your own.

You're probably a match if

• You have strong experience with React programming languages
• You have experience in AI tooling for software engineering (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, etc.)
• You have an understanding of APIs, integrations, and developer tooling
• You have familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and the overall SDLC
• You have the ability to implement solutions from technical specifications and collaborate effectively with senior engineers
• You have strong communication skills and ability to document technical work clearly
• You have the eagerness to learn about LLMs, AI agents, MCPs, and prompt engineering"

We're part of Canva's User Voice Supergroup, where we're focused on empowering every user and making sure every voice is heard.

Within User Voice, the User Help Experience Group is focused on empowering every user to get instant resolution to their issues. The AI Help Experience team context brings that ambition into the rapidly evolving world of AI-enabled support, creating opportunities to make help experiences faster, simpler and more useful.

We work collaboratively across engineering and adjacent disciplines to turn user needs into dependable experiences. The work we do contributes directly to making Canva easier to use and helping our community get back to designing with confidence.
