Senior Software Engineer (AI-Native Full Stack)

Overview

A fast-growing startup at the forefront of the creator economy is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build the next generation of AI-powered products used by millions of creators worldwide. This is a highly impactful full-stack role where you'll own products from ideation through implementation, working across modern frontend systems, scalable backend infrastructure, and AI-powered workflows.

This team views AI as a fundamental shift in how products are designed, built, and shipped. They are looking for engineers who already leverage AI extensively in their day-to-day work and can articulate how it has transformed their productivity, development process, and product thinking.

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York, NY (Hybrid, Tuesday-Thursday in office)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $180,000 - $230,000 + Equity

Responsibilities

• Own and lead product development from concept, planning, and architecture through launch and iteration.
• Build and enhance AI-powered product features alongside AI Product Managers and Machine Learning Engineers.
• Develop and maintain full-stack applications using React, TypeScript, Python, and modern backend technologies.
• Create highly scalable systems supporting millions of daily page views while preparing infrastructure for future growth.
• Drive frontend development with a strong focus on user experience, product quality, and polished interfaces.
• Design backend services, APIs, and database systems that are reliable, performant, and maintainable.
• Use AI tools throughout the development lifecycle, including planning, spec creation, coding, debugging, code reviews, and product exploration.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to scope solutions, prioritize initiatives, and deliver business impact.
• Bring thoughtful perspectives on where AI creates value and where human judgment remains critical.
• Contribute to engineering best practices and help shape how AI-native software development evolves within the team.

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of full-stack software engineering experience.
• Strong frontend expertise with React and TypeScript.
• Strong backend development experience with Python.
• Experience working with SQL and PostgreSQL.
• Proven experience building and shipping production software.
• Demonstrated AI-native workflow using tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, Codex, or similar.
• Ability to clearly explain how AI has changed your development speed, output, or workflow over the past 6 months.
• Experience using LLMs beyond code generation, including:
• Planning
• Spec writing
• Debugging
• Code review
• Strong product sense and customer empathy.
• Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
• Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco or New York.

Preferred

• Experience with Flask.
• Experience with Firebase.
• Startup or early-stage company experience.
• Experience building products at significant scale (millions of users, page views, or similar).
• Experience partnering with AI PMs, ML Engineers, or AI-focused product teams.
• Track record of shipping impactful consumer-facing products.
