Company Description

Network International School, founded in 1996, is the oldest BSO-accredited British international school in Yangon, offering a joyful and rigorous education in a diverse community. The school supports learners from age 2 to 18, guiding them from Early Years through IGCSEs, A Levels, and preparation for leading universities worldwide. Its holistic, student-centered approach combines strong academic standards with character development, small class sizes, and an extensive extra-curricular programme. Innovative teaching practices and a close partnership between teachers, parents, and the wider community help students explore their passions and achieve outstanding results. The school is committed to igniting curiosity and a lifelong love of learning in every student.

Job Purpose

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer to join our IT department as a standalone technical role, building the in-house tools and web applications that run the school. You'll take projects from an idea through to a working, deployed system: designing the database, writing the front-end and back-end, and integrating it with our existing platforms.

This is a build role. You'll be given real problems to solve, not a fixed spec to follow, so a strong problem-solving mindset matters more than any single language or framework. We're open to modern development approaches, including AI-assisted ("vibe") coding, as long as the output is solid, well-tested, and something you understand and can maintain.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design and build full stack web applications, from database schema through to front-end UI.
  • Develop integrations between our MIS (SIMS), Google Workspace, and third-party platforms (attendance hardware, HR systems, firewalls, and others).
  • Maintain and extend existing in-house systems and automation tools.
  • Take ownership of projects end to end: scoping, building, testing, deploying, and fixing bugs.
  • Work closely with the Head of IT Operations and Systems to identify where new tools or automation would help the school.
  • Write clean, well-documented code and keep basic technical documentation up to date.
  • Handle student and staff data securely and responsibly.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven full stack development experience: front-end, back-end, and database design.
  • Strong problem-solving ability. Comfortable being handed a loose brief and figuring out the right solution.
  • Excellent written English, able to document work and explain technical decisions clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially around data accuracy and security.
  • Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools, provided the work is understood, reviewed, and properly tested, not just generated and shipped.
  • Experience with Google Workspace APIs (Apps Script, Admin SDK) is a bonus.
  • Experience integrating with a school MIS or similar system is a bonus but not required.

Attributes

  • Self-directed, able to own a project from concept to delivery with minimal oversight.
  • Methodical and thorough, doesn't cut corners under deadline pressure.
  • Good communicator, comfortable working with non-technical staff to understand what they actually need.
  • Proactive and curious, keen to suggest better ways of doing things.
  • Committed to safeguarding and data confidentiality.
