About The Role
The Quantitative Software Developer role at Campbell & Company is a critical position within the Research department, focusing on the development and maintenance of proprietary research models and libraries. As a Software or Research Engineer, you will contribute to translating complex mathematical and statistical research ideas into robust, scalable software solutions. This role requires a strong foundation in programming, quantitative analysis, and a keen understanding of financial markets. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including Market
Data, Operations, and Trading—to implement, refine, and expand upon models that drive the firm’s investment strategies. The position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of financial innovation, utilizing your technical expertise to solve challenging problems and improve system efficiencies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in software development, preferably in a financial or research environment.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C/C++, and SQL.
- Strong understanding of mathematical and statistical concepts, including time series analysis, basic statistics, and data modeling.
- Experience with database querying, unit testing, and reporting functions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication skills to effectively document and present technical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain internal applications and libraries utilizing a variety of technologies and programming languages, primarily MATLAB, with additional use of Python, C/C++, and SQL.
- Gather requirements from stakeholders, implement new systems, and enhance existing codebases to improve functionality and performance.
- Test, validate, and document software solutions to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with best practices.
- Apply domain expertise and technical knowledge to optimize models and algorithms, increasing the efficiency and productivity of research initiatives.
- Take leadership in key technical projects, collaborating with team members and cross-departmental colleagues to achieve strategic goals.
- Participate in code reviews, contribute to best practices, and continuously seek opportunities for process improvements.
- Support the integration of research models into trading systems and operational workflows, ensuring seamless deployment and functionality.
