Company Description Vaxx Research is focused on addressing North America’s national
security and energy vulnerability created by reliance on foreign supply chains for Critical Minerals and Materials (CMM). Recognizing that conventional extraction is costly, slow, and environmentally damaging, the organization is developing alternative methods that reduce ecological impact and improve scalability. The company’s solution is a paradigm-shifting platform that replaces traditional mechanical mining and chemical refinement. Vaxx Research integrates generative AI, synthetic biology, and autonomous robotics to enable smarter, more efficient resource acquisition and processing. Team members collaborate across disciplines to build technologies with both economic and strategic importance.
Role Description The Front and Back End Coder is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining user-facing interfaces and server-side applications that support Vaxx Research’s AI, synthetic biology, and robotics platforms. Day-to-day tasks include developing responsive front-end components, building and optimizing back-end APIs and data pipelines, integrating with internal tools and third-party services, and ensuring secure, scalable software architectures. The role involves collaborating with data scientists, biologists, robotics engineers, and product stakeholders to translate complex technical requirements into reliable software solutions, as well as writing clean, testable code and participating in code reviews. This is a full-time position. It is a hybrid role based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with a combination of on-site collaboration and some work-from-home flexibility.
Qualifications
- Strong front-end development skills (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, modern frameworks such as React or Vue, HTML5, CSS3) and experience building responsive, accessible user interfaces.
- Robust back-end engineering abilities (e.g., Python, Node.js, or similar; RESTful or GraphQL APIs; microservices; relational and/or NoSQL databases).
- Experience with software architecture, testing, and DevOps practices (e.g., unit/integration testing, CI/CD pipelines, version control with Git, containerization using Docker or Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with data-centric and AI-adjacent workflows (e.g., integrating with ML services, handling large datasets, working with APIs that support robotics or scientific computing).
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to write clean, maintainable, well-documented code in collaborative environments.
- Comfort working in a cross-functional team with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clear communication and willingness to iterate based on feedback.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in full-stack software development.
- Experience in deep tech domains such as AI, synthetic biology, robotics, or industrial automation is a plus; startup or early-stage company experience is
