Full Stack Engineer – Java / React / Node.js / Python / AWS

Toronto, ON (Onsite – 4 days/week)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable, cloud-native applications using modern frontend and backend technologies. This role requires strong expertise in Java and AWS (must-have), along with hands-on experience in React, Node.js, and Python.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable owning features end-to-end across the software development lifecycle and collaborating closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop responsive, high-performance user interfaces using React.
• Build and maintain scalable backend systems, APIs, and microservices using Java, Node.js, and Python.
• Develop, deploy, and support cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and testable code following engineering best practices.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance across frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure.
• Ensure application security, scalability, and reliability throughout the development lifecycle.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of Full Stack development experience
• Strong hands-on expertise in Java (must-have) for backend application development
• Strong experience with AWS cloud services (must-have), including:
• EC2
• Lambda
• S3
• RDS
• DynamoDB
• API Gateway
• IAM
• CloudWatch
• Frontend development experience using React, including:
• React Hooks
• State Management (Redux / Context API)
• Component-based architecture
• Responsive UI development
• Backend development experience with:
• Node.js
• Python (FastAPI, Flask, or Django preferred)
• Strong experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
• Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices
• Proficiency with Git-based version control
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with a strong team-first mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with serverless architecture on AWS
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as:
• Docker
• Kubernetes
• Experience with frontend testing frameworks:
• Jest
• React Testing Library
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture
• Exposure to Agile / Scrum methodologies

Nice to Have

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
• Exposure to GraphQL APIs
• Experience working in high-scale, distributed cloud environments
• Knowledge of application security and performance optimization best practices

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
