Role: Shopify Developer

Location: Melbourne

Job Description:

• Design, build, and maintain custom Shopify themes and templates using Liquid, HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and JavaScript
• Develop and integrate custom Shopify apps and features using the Shopify API, Admin API, Storefront API, and GraphQL
• Optimize site performance, page speed, and mobile responsiveness across the storefront
• Implement and maintain third-party integrations (ERP, POS, inventory management, PIM, CRM, email marketing, loyalty programs, payment gateways)
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to implement pixel-perfect, on-brand storefront experiences
• Support seasonal campaigns, product launches, and promotional builds, including landing pages and merchandising updates
• Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, checkout issues, and cart/theme conflicts
• Manage app installations, customizations, and Shopify Plus features (scripts, flows, checkout extensibility)
• Ensure the site follows accessibility (WCAG), SEO, and security best practices
• Monitor site analytics and collaborate with marketing/merchandising teams to identify opportunities for conversion rate optimization
• Stay current with Shopify platform updates, retail e-commerce trends, and new app/theme capabilities
• Document technical processes and maintain version control (Git) for all custom code

Required:

• 2+ years of hands-on Shopify development experience (Shopify or Shopify Plus)
• Strong proficiency in Liquid templating, HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and JavaScript (ES6+)
• Experience with Shopify's Admin API, Storefront API, and Webhooks
• Familiarity with headless commerce frameworks (e.g., Hydrogen, Next.js) is a plus
• Understanding of retail e-commerce operations: product catalogs, inventory sync, promotions, order management
• Experience integrating third-party apps and platforms (ERP/POS systems like NetSuite, Shopify POS, Klaviyo, etc.)
• Solid understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
• Experience with Git/version control and agile development workflows
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

• Shopify Partner or Shopify Plus certification
• Experience with React, Node.js, or other modern JS frameworks
• Background working with retail/apparel/consumer goods brands
• Familiarity with checkout customization (Shopify Functions, Checkout UI Extensions)
• Understanding of SEO fundamentals and Core Web Vitals
• Experience with A/B testing tools and CRO best practices
