About The Role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Frontend Engineer to join our remote team at vidIQ. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the user experience for millions of YouTube creators by developing and maintaining key product surfaces across our web app, mobile apps, and browser extensions. Our tech stack includes React, Next.js, TypeScript, Vite, and Tailwind, with a strong emphasis on integrating AI models to deliver innovative features such as content ideation, metadata generation, and insights. This position offers an exciting opportunity to own entire product features—from UI design and API integration to performance optimization and deployment—making a direct impact on our user base. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers and designers, to identify opportunities, propose solutions, and deliver high-quality, scalable features. Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess at least five years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on frontend technologies. Proficiency in TypeScript, React, Next.js, Vite, and Tailwind is essential, along with the ability to design robust APIs and work comfortably on backend components when necessary. The ideal candidate is self-driven, capable of making decisions independently, and takes ownership of their work from conception to deployment. Excellent communication skills are required to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Experience with AI tools, such as code assistants and model integrations, is highly valued, along with a keen interest in staying current with advancements in AI and related workflows. Additional experience with backend technologies like Node.js, Scala, Python, relational databases, caching, and queues is a plus. Candidates should demonstrate a passion for product quality, mentorship, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for owning and developing key product surfaces, ensuring they meet user needs and perform reliably at scale. Your core responsibilities include building and modifying backend APIs, services, and data pipelines to support frontend features, and leading initiatives to modernize and optimize the frontend architecture. You will spearhead the transition of features from JavaScript to TypeScript, leveraging AI-assisted tooling to improve efficiency and maintainability. A significant part of your role involves integrating AI-powered features, such as streaming responses and prompt management, into the product stack, ensuring seamless user experiences even when model outputs are unpredictable. You will identify system bottlenecks and performance issues, applying your expertise to improve system robustness and speed. Additionally, you will champion the responsible use of AI tools within the team, sharing best practices and establishing guidelines for their effective and ethical use. Your responsibilities also include testing workflows, implementing monitoring and error reporting, and owning the quality and stability of your code in production. Mentoring fellow engineers through code reviews and technical guidance will be an integral part of your contribution to the team’s growth and excellence.
