About The Role
The Quantitative Software Developer role at Campbell & Company is a pivotal position within the Research department, primarily focused on creating, implementing, and maintaining proprietary research models and libraries. As a Software or Research Engineer, you will contribute to the development of innovative solutions that support the firm’s trading strategies. This role involves translating complex mathematical models into efficient, reliable code, conducting rigorous
testing, and collaborating across departments such as Market
Data, Operations, and Trading. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of finance, mathematics, and technology, applying your
technical expertise to solve real-world financial problems.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development, quantitative analysis, and financial modeling. A bachelor’s degree in
Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field is required; a master’s or Ph.D. is preferred. Proven experience with programming languages such as MATLAB,
Python, C/
C++, and
SQL is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of time series analysis, statistical methods, and
database querying. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are critical. Prior experience in finance or quantitative research is advantageous but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
Development
- Develop internal applications and libraries using a variety of technologies and programming languages, primarily MATLAB, along with Python, C/C++, SQL, and others, following a structured development process.
- Gather requirements from stakeholders, implement new systems, and enhance existing codebases to improve functionality and performance.
- Document technical specifications, write clear and maintainable code, and conduct comprehensive testing to ensure robustness and accuracy.
- Apply domain-specific knowledge to optimize models and improve computational efficiency, contributing to the firm’s overall productivity.
- Take a leadership role in key technical initiatives, mentoring junior team members and collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
- Participate in code reviews, troubleshoot technical issues, and continuously seek opportunities for process improvements.
