About The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Front-End Software Developer (Experimental UI/UX) to join our GridScale X Software team. In this remote position based in the contiguous U.S., you will be instrumental in developing and modernizing SaaS software experiences, prototyping critical applications for strategic clients and research partners. Your work will involve transforming legacy workflows, integrating micro frontends and microservices, and optimizing performance for large datasets. You will collaborate closely with UX designers, product managers, and backend engineers to deliver innovative, user-friendly interfaces that enhance operational efficiency and usability. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team led by an ambitious director, contributing to cutting-edge grid management solutions that impact the future of energy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related STEM field
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience (excluding academic projects or internships)
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, and JavaScript for API integration
  • Strong experience with Electron.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks
  • Experience in modernizing legacy applications or workflows
  • Knowledge of SaaS platforms, micro frontends, and cloud-native architecture
  • Solid understanding of software design principles, performance optimization, and debugging
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps tools including Docker, VMs, container orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience working with at least one cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Knowledge of security procedures involving encryption, TLS, and OAuth2.0
  • Ability to work effectively in a self-organized, collaborative team environment
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future employer-sponsored visa support (for non-Siemens employees)

Responsibilities

  • Modernize user interfaces using Electron.js and contemporary web technologies like React and TypeScript
  • Integrate with existing Python APIs to enhance and extend legacy workflows
  • Redesign workflows to improve usability and reduce customer friction
  • Incorporate SaaS microservices and micro frontends into existing applications
  • Optimize application performance and memory usage, especially for handling large datasets
  • Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, and backend engineers to deliver cohesive solutions
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and comprehensive documentation to maintain code quality
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for building, validating, and deploying applications
  • Identify legacy design patterns that may hinder scalability or adoption and propose improvements
  • Stay current with UI/UX trends, desktop frameworks, and SaaS integration best practices
