About The Role
The Senior Software Engineer role at PSI builds new features for the technology PSI provides to its customers. On the Test Center Portal, the application test centers worldwide use to run exam days (candidate check-in, proctoring, scheduling, and test sessions), Senior Software Engineers work closely with others across the engineering teams to understand what has been scoped. They build new features on an existing full-stack
web application: a .NET 10 / ASP.NET Core Minimal
API backend with Azure Functions workers, a
SQL Server database accessed through stored procedures, and a
React 19 frontend. They also integrate with internal and third-party systems. This role adds significant value to the operation of PSI's business, performing crucial work in maintaining our people-focused, quality brand.
This is a full-time permanent role, with flexible hours around core office availability Monday to Friday. The role can be performed remotely, with occasional travel required for meetings, events, and workshops.
Role Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing and executing end-to-end for key technology platforms and be accountable for projects.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to more junior members of Software Engineering teams.
- Develop enterprise-class & scalable web applications.
- Enhance and support existing web application functionality, which includes new feature development and resolving complex code issues as reported.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, product managers and engineers to build modern, scalable, user-friendly and functionally robust web applications in an AGILE environment.
- Participate in all aspects of SDLC including analysis, requirements, design, implementation, testing and support.
- Use principles, guidelines and best practices as defined.
- Reviewing and analyzing feature requirements.
- Maintaining and creating product knowledge documentation.
- Researching and embracing new techniques and technology to improve technology.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Focus on quality throughout with strong unit testing.
Knowledge, Skills And Experience Requirements
- Education to Bachelor's degree level in Computer Science or related field.
- 8+ years' experience in software engineering roles.
- Hands-on experience with modern software development languages and frontend technologies, e.g. C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, etc.
- Experience designing and building REST APIs, ideally with ASP.NET Core Minimal APIs, preferred.
- Experience with data access libraries and ORMs such as Insight.Database, Dapper or Entity Framework.
- Experience in fault finding and resolving Priority 1 production issues, including diagnosing problems from structured logs.
- Experience with relational databases like Microsoft SQL Server, including writing and tuning T-SQL stored procedures.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies such as AWS (S3, Secrets Manager, SSM) and Azure Functions desirable.
- Experience with React (including TanStack Query and React Hook Form), Bootstrap, Git/GitHub and Jira desirable.
- Experience with distributed systems (service integrations, background and queue-driven processing, caching with Redis) and accessibility work (specifically WCAG) desirable.
Experience delivering software for regulated environments such as FedRAMP desirable
