## About the Role
Acadian Asset Management is seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join its Portfolio Tools Engineering team.
In this role, you will own and evolve one of the firm's flagship internal software products: a portfolio management and decomposition platform that supports systematic investment decision-making.
You will build high-performance tools that help investment professionals understand the drivers of portfolio positions, returns, risk, transactions, and liquidity. The role combines full-stack software engineering, data processing, distributed computing, and investment technology.
You will work closely with portfolio managers, quantitative researchers, and engineers to develop scalable and maintainable applications that align with investment workflows.
This is an execution-focused opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and building software that has a direct impact on investment decisions.
## Key Responsibilities
* Build, test, and enhance tools that attribute portfolio positions, returns, and risk to alpha, risk, transaction, and liquidity models.
* Participate in research initiatives designed to improve the investment process.
* Use feedback from portfolio attribution systems to identify opportunities for improvement.
* Develop full-stack applications using Python, React, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks.
* Design and implement scalable backend systems using Python and Ray.
* Develop high-performance data-processing solutions using distributed and parallel computing technologies.
* Work with relational and non-relational databases.
* Optimize software for performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
* Develop cloud-ready, modular, and extensible software solutions.
* Build and maintain APIs that provide fast and efficient access to portfolio insights.
* Work with complex data structures and large datasets.
* Optimize and unify reporting across multiple geographies, strategies, and investment use cases.
* Develop exception-based management reporting capabilities.
* Develop and maintain the company's configuration-based language for portfolio analysis.
* Collaborate with portfolio managers, quantitative researchers, and engineering teams.
* Translate investment workflows and requirements into practical software solutions.
* Contribute to system architecture, technical design, testing, and deployment.
* Help ensure portfolio tools remain adaptable as investment requirements evolve.
## Technical Requirements
* 6–10 years of experience in full-stack development or portfolio tools engineering.
* Strong experience with Python.
* Experience with React and JavaScript.
* Experience with Ray or similar distributed computing technologies.
* Strong backend engineering capabilities.
* Experience designing and developing APIs.
* Experience with distributed or parallel computing.
* Experience working with relational databases.
* Experience working with non-relational databases.
* Strong understanding of modern front-end development.
* Experience optimizing applications for performance and scalability.
* Experience developing cloud-ready applications.
* Understanding of software architecture and modular system design.
* Strong experience working with data structures and data-processing systems.
## Investment Domain Knowledge
Experience or knowledge in quantitative investment technology is highly valuable.
Candidates should ideally have an understanding of areas such as:
* Portfolio management
* Portfolio decomposition
* Portfolio attribution
* Risk analysis
* Quantitative investment strategies
* Alpha and risk models
* Transaction and liquidity analysis
* Systematic equity investment strategies
Experience working with quantitative investment managers is a plus.
## Preferred Qualifications
* CFA designation is a plus.
* Experience building portfolio management or investment technology platforms.
* Experience with quantitative finance or systematic investing.
* Experience working with large-scale financial datasets.
* Familiarity with cloud deployment and cloud-native architectures.
* Experience with configuration-driven applications.
* Experience building internal tools for investment professionals.
* Understanding of quantitative equity strategies similar to those used by systematic investment managers.

## Work Environment
Acadian supports a hybrid working model for this position. Employees are expected to work **three days per week on-site at the Boston office**.

## Compensation & Benefits
The base salary range for this position is:
**$160,000–$175,000 per year**
Actual compensation will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other relevant factors.
In addition to base salary, the position may be eligible for discretionary incentive compensation.
