About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled
Senior Software Developer (m/w/d) to join our interdisciplinary research and development team at Eagleyard Photonics GmbH. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing software solutions in
Python that automate and control measurement,
testing, and assembly processes within laboratory and production environments. Your work will be instrumental in enhancing the quality, efficiency, and reliability of our manufacturing workflows. You will develop system-level solutions, integrate them into distributed architectures, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our internal tools and processes. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a university degree in
Technical Informatics, Physics, Computer Engineering,
Automation Technology, or a related
technical field. A minimum of five years of professional experience in IT and software development is essential, preferably within a manufacturing environment in the photonics industry. Demonstrable success in managing software development projects, especially those interfacing with mechanics, optics, measurement technology, production, and IT systems, is highly valued. Expertise in
Python programming is mandatory, with additional knowledge of LabVIEW being advantageous. A solid understanding of
technical and physical principles, including basic knowledge of photonics, will support your ability to develop effective solutions. Candidates should demonstrate a structured, analytical, and solution-oriented work approach, with proficiency in documentation and version control systems. Strong communication skills in both German and English at least at C1 level are required to facilitate collaboration within our international team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement internal software solutions in Python to automate and control optical assembly and measurement processes.
- Create measurement and evaluation software, including user interfaces, for characterizing and measuring laser diode modules for internal use.
- Integrate system-level solutions into distributed architectures and continuously optimize their performance.
- Enhance existing software developed by the R&D department and transition these solutions into production-ready applications.
- Collaborate with the team to define test cases, and generate and execute unit and integration tests to ensure software quality.
- Build and maintain a scalable software infrastructure for Python applications to support current and future needs.
- Perform debugging and root cause analysis independently to resolve application issues promptly and effectively.
