Instead of relying on simple star ratings, BusinessRate uses a proprietary Benchmark Score and competitive rankings to show how a business compares against nearby competitors. The platform combines historical performance, recent momentum, and review quality to provide a clearer, more accurate picture of reputation and market position.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced, high-agency developer who can design, build, and ship reliable systems quickly. This is not a narrow role. You will work across the stack, own projects end-to-end, and directly influence product and technical decisions.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain backend services using Node.js and TypeScript
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas and queries at scale
• Develop frontend features using modern frameworks (Next.js / React)
• Work with APIs, data pipelines, and automation systems
• Improve performance across services handling large datasets
• Collaborate with a small, fast-moving team to ship features quickly

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience building production systems (not just tutorials)
• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL (indexes, performance, large data)
• Proficiency in TypeScript / Node.js
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, Next.js)
• Ability to debug, profile, and optimize real systems
• Comfortable working independently and making decisions

Bonus Points

• Experience with Docker and distributed systems
• Familiarity with metrics/logging tools (Datadog, StatsD, etc.)
• Experience working with large-scale data (millions+ rows)
• Background in startups or small, fast teams
