Senior Full Stack Engineer

At Care Safety Innovations we build VCC iCON, a platform for home care providers. Care workers use it on their visits, and the office uses it to plan, follow up and keep everything documented and secure. It runs on web and mobile, and customers subscribe to it.

Home care is under pressure everywhere. People live longer, and there aren't enough carers to go round. Software can't fix that on its own, but it can take a lot of admin off people's plates and give them more time with the people they look after. That's what we work on every day.

VCC iCON is used by home care providers across the UK and we are now getting ready for the US and Europe. We're growing our R&D team to get there. We are looking for several senior full stack engineers.

Our R&D department works the way a modern team should: team members working remotely, a current tech stack, and AI built into how we plan, write and ship software. VCC iCON is built to scale globally, and we build it with new and modern technology.

The problems we solve are real. Care workers use the app in people's homes, often short on time. When it works well, it means safer care and more time for people in your own community.

The job

You'll build features from start to finish, from the screens on web and mobile to the services and APIs behind them. Much of what we do involves real-time communication, sensitive health data and AI, so security and data protection are part of everyday work for us. We take GDPR and HIPAA seriously.

You'll work closely with the business team alongsinde product, design and clinical people to work out what to build, and then build it ane ship. You'll review code, have a say in the architecture, and keep an eye on how things run.

How we use AI

AI is part of our whole workflow, from planning a feature to releasing it. You'll plan with an agent, hand over the parts it handles well, and review what comes back with a critical eye. What gets merged is still your responsibility. We haven't figured it all out yet, so we're looking for people who want to help shape how we work and share what they learn.

Our stack

React and TypeScript on the web, React Native on mobile, Java and Spring Boot with PostgreSQL on the backend. Everything runs on Microsoft Azure, and we use language models and speech services.

Nobody knows all of it on day one. If you're strong in a good part of it, you'll pick up the rest.

We think you have

  • At least 5 years of experience as a full stack engineer
  • Strong TypeScript, React and React Native
  • Solid backend experience, ideally with Java and Spring Boot. If you come from Kotlin, C# or something similar and want to switch, that's fine.
  • Experience with relational databases and API design
  • Daily use of AI coding tools, and your own views on where they help and where they don't
  • Cloud experience, preferably Azure
  • Fluent English, which is our working language
  • A habit of taking things all the way to production

Nice if you also have

  • Event-driven or real-time systems
  • Python, or experience building on LLM APIs
  • Containers and CI/CD
  • Experience from healthcare or another regulated field

What we offer

  • A permanent job on a product that makes a difference for carers and the people they support
  • Remote work from anywhere in Europe within CET ±2 hours, or hybrid from our Oslo/London office
  • Trips to the office when needed, usually about once a month
  • Good AI tools, paid for by us, and time to try new ways of working
  • Real influence on architecture, tools and how the team works
  • The chance to help take the product from the UK to Europe and the US

How to apply

Send your CV to Anders at anders.bjornrud@caresafetyinnovations.com, with a few lines on how you use AI in your own work. Tell us about something real you built or fixed with AI help, rather than listing tools.

There's no deadline. We're always happy to hear from good senior engineers.
