Puzzl Media is looking for a software developer to join our team.

We're a small, experienced development team building web and mobile software for a range of clients. We're looking for someone who can take a problem, understand it, and turn it into good software without needing every step mapped out for them.

We're particularly interested in developers who have embraced AI-assisted development. We use AI as part of our normal development workflow and expect you to be comfortable using it to work faster and solve problems, while still understanding and taking responsibility for the code you produce.

Experience

We're looking for someone with around 2-5 years of professional software development experience.

We're more interested in what you can do than the exact number of years you've been doing it. Strong problem-solving ability, solid development fundamentals, and the ability to use AI effectively will carry more weight than years of experience alone.

What we're looking for

• At least 2 years of professional software development experience
• Strong JavaScript and React skills
• Experience with Next.js
• Strong HTML and CSS fundamentals
• Comfortable working with Git and existing codebases
• Experience using AI coding tools as part of your development workflow
• Good problem-solving and debugging skills
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly

Nice to have

We're primarily looking for strong frontend skills, but broader development experience is a big plus.

This could include:

• Other modern frontend frameworks, libraries, and tooling
• TypeScript
• UI/UX and responsive design experience
• Building and integrating APIs
• Backend development experience
• Python
• Ruby on Rails
• PHP
• SQL and database experience
• Cloud platforms and deployment
• Full-stack development experience

You don't need to tick every box. But it's an advantage if you are comfortable moving beyond the frontend when a project requires it.

The kind of developer we're looking for

We're less interested in how many technologies you can list on your CV and more interested in how you approach problems.

You should be able to understand an unfamiliar problem, break it down, decide on a sensible approach, and use the tools available to you to solve it efficiently.

AI is one of those tools. We don't expect you to write every line of code manually, and we don't consider avoiding AI a virtue. Equally, we're not looking for someone who can only generate code with AI.

You need enough development experience to understand what is being generated, identify problems, debug it, improve it, and ultimately take ownership of the result.

The technical interview

There won't be a LeetCode exam or a trivia test about obscure JavaScript behaviour.

Instead, we'll give you a practical problem and watch how you approach it.

We're interested in how you think, how you communicate with AI, how quickly you can turn an idea into something functional, and whether you understand the code you produce.
