About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Vice President Full Stack Developer to join Barclays' dynamic engineering team. This pivotal role is based in Whippany, NJ, and offers an exciting opportunity to influence one of Barclays' most critical trading platforms. As a key contributor, you will work closely with front-office stakeholders to design, develop, and deliver high-performance, scalable solutions that directly impact revenue, client engagement, and business operations. Your expertise will be instrumental in optimizing UI performance, managing real-time data streaming, and ensuring ultra-low latency processing of vast transaction volumes.

This role emphasizes end-to-end ownership, technical excellence, and innovation. You will champion automation, implement robust testing strategies, and uphold CI/CD best practices to ensure rapid, reliable delivery of features. The position provides significant exposure to strategic initiatives, cross-functional collaboration, and the opportunity to make a measurable impact from day one.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background and a passion for engineering excellence, with the following qualifications:

  • Expertise in Angular, TypeScript, and modern web technologies, with a proven track record of building responsive, scalable front-end applications in demanding trading environments.
  • Extensive full-stack development experience with Java and the Spring ecosystem, designing resilient, low-latency solutions supporting high-volume, real-time workflows.
  • Deep knowledge of UI performance engineering, including state management, real-time data streaming, rendering optimization, and visualization of large datasets with minimal latency.
  • Hands-on experience with real-time messaging and event-driven architectures such as WebSocket, Kafka, and Solace, along with designing and integrating RESTful APIs.
  • Strong commitment to automation, testing, and CI/CD practices, ensuring high-quality, continuous delivery of software.
  • Preferred experience with AI-assisted development tools, enterprise data grids like AG Grid, and familiarity with electronic trading platforms and capital markets.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex business needs into technical solutions and collaborate effectively across teams.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, resilient trading platform components with a focus on UI performance and real-time data visualization.
  • Optimizing front-end applications for responsiveness and low latency, managing extensive datasets, and ensuring seamless user experiences.
  • Implementing and maintaining robust APIs and messaging architectures to support real-time trading activities.
  • Leading automation initiatives, including test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and quality assurance processes.
