Role Description This part-time, remote Software Engineer role focuses on building and maintaining software solutions that support STAR BAZAR’s retail operations and customer-facing platforms. On a day-to-day basis, the Software Engineer will design, implement, and test back-end services and APIs, ensuring reliability, scalability, and maintainability. The role includes collaborating with product and operations stakeholders to understand requirements, translating them into technical specifications, and iterating on features based on feedback. The Software Engineer will review code, troubleshoot production issues, optimize performance, and contribute to documentation and technical standards. The position requires proactive communication in a distributed environment and comfort working independently with clear priorities and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Computer Science principles, including data structures, algorithms, and software design concepts.
• Hands-on experience in Software Development and Programming, with proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Knowledge of Back-End Web Development, including building RESTful APIs, integrating with databases, and working with cloud or server environments.
• Practical understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and clean code practices, including testing and version control (e.g., Git).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, part-time setting, manage time independently, and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with retail, e-commerce, or inventory systems is a plus, as is experience with agile methodologies and issue-tracking tools.
