Role Description This is a full-time, remote Software Engineer role. The Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs that power IT SPEAR’s solutions for managing mobile and connected devices. Day-to-day work includes writing clean, maintainable code, implementing new features, fixing defects, and contributing to technical design discussions. The role involves collaborating with product managers, other engineers, and QA to refine requirements, estimate effort, and deliver iterative improvements. The Software Engineer will participate in code reviews, improve performance and scalability, and help enhance reliability, security, and observability across the platform. They will also contribute to documentation, testing practices, and continuous integration and deployment processes.

Qualifications

  • Solid foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
  • Hands-on experience in Software Development and Programming, with at least one modern language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go).
  • Proficiency in Back-End Web Development, including RESTful APIs, microservices, and integration with databases or external services.
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and their application in production systems.
  • Experience with version control (e.g., Git), automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team, with clear written and verbal communication.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization/orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with security, device management, or mobile/enterprise software is beneficial.
