  • Build new product features and enhance existing functionality based on user and business requirements.
  • Translate requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.
  • Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from solution design through deployment and ongoing support.

Frontend Development
  • Develop responsive, accessible, and intuitive user interfaces using modern frontend technologies.
  • Build reusable UI components and optimise applications for performance and usability.
  • Work closely with product managers and designers to deliver high-quality experiences for educators, students, and operational users.

Backend & API Development
  • Develop and maintain APIs, backend services, and business logic supporting application workflows.
  • Implement authentication, authorisation, and role-based access controls.
  • Integrate applications with databases, enterprise systems, and external services.
  • Ensure backend services are secure, reliable, performant, and scalable.

Data & Workflow Solutions
  • Design data models, application workflows, and business process automation.
  • Develop features supporting task management, reporting, operational visibility, and decision-making.
  • Maintain data integrity, security, and traceability across applications.

Quality, DevOps & Engineering Practices
  • Develop automated tests and follow secure coding and software engineering best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering standards.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Continuously improve application reliability, performance, and maintainability.

Product & User Collaboration
  • Engage with users and stakeholders to understand challenges within education and operational environments.
  • Participate in prototyping, usability testing, and iterative product development.
  • Gather feedback and identify opportunities to improve products, workflows, and user experience.

Requirements
  • 3–5+ years of experience in software engineering, full stack development, or application development.
  • Proven experience building and delivering production-grade web applications.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
  • Hands-on experience with a modern frontend framework such as React, Next.js, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Backend development experience using Node.js, Python, Java, .NET, or Go.
  • Good understanding of RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience implementing authentication, authorisation, and application security controls.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
  • Good understanding of data modelling, database design, and query optimisation.
  • Familiarity with AWS or Azure cloud environments.
  • Experience working in Agile or product-oriented development teams.

Good to Have
  • Experience developing digital products for the education or public sector.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment automation.
  • Experience with Docker or other containerisation technologies.
  • Understanding of application monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and responsive web development practices.
  • Experience working directly with users to translate business needs into technical solutions.

What We’re Looking For
  • Passion for using technology to solve real-world problems and improve experiences in education.
  • Strong ownership and accountability for delivering quality outcomes.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with evolving requirements and ambiguity.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic approach to software engineering.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and willing to contribute ideas and challenge assumptions constructively.
  • Strong focus on product quality, usability, and delivering practical solutions.
