Role Overview

Renda is seeking a Senior / Lead Frontend Engineer to take ownership of the frontend experience as we move from beta into market launch.

This is a high-impact engineering role working closely with the existing 2-person frontend team, the founders, backend engineers, product, and design. You will help shape how Renda looks, feels, and works across the product, from core banking experiences to AI-powered interactions with Alfie.

We're looking for an engineer who can do more than implement designs. You should be comfortable making architectural decisions, thinking deeply about user experience, building reliable and maintainable frontend systems, and taking ownership of features from idea to production.

At Renda, frontend is a critical part of the product. We're building a new kind of banking experience, and the quality of the interface is fundamental to making that vision real.

What You Will Do

• Own and develop major areas of Renda's web and application frontend
• Build polished, responsive, and intuitive financial experiences from design through production
• Translate product and design requirements into high-quality, scalable frontend implementations
• Establish and maintain frontend architecture, patterns, and best practices
• Work closely with backend engineers to integrate APIs, financial infrastructure, and real-time data
• Build and improve AI-powered interfaces and conversational experiences around Alfie
• Develop reusable components and frontend systems that can scale as Renda grows
• Identify and resolve performance, reliability, accessibility, and usability issues
• Review code and help establish a strong engineering standard across the frontend
• Mentor and support other frontend engineers as the team grows
• Collaborate closely with product and design to refine interactions and user experiences
• Take ownership of technical decisions and proactively identify opportunities to improve the product
• Help establish the engineering foundations required for Renda's transition from beta to production at scale

What We Are Looking For

• 5+ years of professional frontend engineering experience for Senior level; Lead candidates should have demonstrated technical leadership
• Strong experience building modern web applications and consumer-facing products
• Deep proficiency with React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript
• Strong understanding of frontend architecture, component design, state management, and API integration
• Experience working with REST APIs and/or GraphQL
• Strong understanding of responsive design, browser behavior, performance, and accessibility
• Ability to take ownership of a feature or product area with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and a high standard for product quality
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-moving startup environment
• Experience working with Git and modern frontend development workflows

Lead-Level Expectations

For candidates joining at the Lead level, we're additionally looking for someone who can:

• Define and evolve Renda's frontend technical direction
• Make architectural decisions that balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability
• Establish frontend engineering standards and development practices
• Lead technical discussions and code reviews
• Mentor and support other engineers
• Identify technical risks before they become product problems
• Help shape engineering hiring and the future structure of the frontend team
• Work directly with the founders to translate product vision into technical execution

Compensation
