About The Role
The Lead Software Engineer at Cohere Health is a pivotal role within our remote-first engineering team. This position offers the opportunity to work on a dynamic, collaborative,
agile environment focused on building and enhancing a growing healthcare software platform. The successful candidate will have technical ownership of end-to-end feature releases and platform improvements, directly influencing the customer-configurability capabilities of the Cohere platform. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy scalable, high-quality solutions that meet the evolving needs of healthcare providers and payers. While primarily remote, the role may require travel to Boston, MA for onboarding, occasional in-person meetings, and company events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the software development lifecycle
- Proficiency in React and TypeScript or other modern web frameworks
- Strong fluency in Java programming language
- Experience designing and implementing scalable data services and APIs
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB, Elasticsearch, DataDog, Kafka, or similar technologies
- Experience deploying software on cloud infrastructure using AWS, Terraform, or CloudFormation
- Proven track record in building and deploying full-stack web applications
- Knowledge of version control, unit testing, CI/CD practices
- Prior experience in healthcare or life sciences is a plus but not mandatory
- Experience with test frameworks such as Cypress, Jest, Mocha, JUnit, or Cucumber is advantageous
- Familiarity with Groovy and Micronaut is a plus
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design process, providing expertise and analysis for data-driven decision making
- Contribute significantly to feature design, development, testing, and deployment of cloud platforms and web applications
- Support all components of the platform, from database management to frontend interfaces
- Continuously explore and adopt new technologies and services to improve development efficiency
- Promote a culture of testing, quality assurance, and attention to detail by maintaining comprehensive test coverage
- Ensure adherence to healthcare security standards and best practices across the platform
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering a community of continuous learning and growth
- Collaborate closely with product and design teams to develop applications that deliver exceptional healthcare experiences
- Participate in code reviews, system architecture planning, and technical documentation
