About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Developer to join our "Mediendienste" department, specifically within the Project Schul
cloud. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the development and ongoing enhancement of the Schul
cloud-Verbund-Software (SVS), a central learning management system (LMS) connecting over 4,000 schools across the federal states of Brandenburg, Thuringia, and Lower Saxony. The project involves transitioning the system's operational responsibility from the current provider, Dataport AöR, to FWU, with a planned full takeover by 2029 following a phased migration starting in August 2026. Your expertise will contribute to ensuring the stability, scalability, and innovative development of this crucial educational infrastructure, supporting the digital transformation of schools across Germany.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a university degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Media Informatics, or a comparable qualification. They should have several years of professional experience in developing modern
web and
cloud applications, with a strong background as a full-stack developer and experience in designing scalable solutions. Proficiency in the following technologies is highly advantageous:
TypeScript/NestJS for
backend development,
TypeScript/
Vue.js for
frontend development, Cypress and Jest for
testing, and familiarity with legacy systems such as
JavaScript with FeatherJS and Handlebars. Experience working within
agile development environments, particularly Scrum, is essential. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to external stakeholders, manage technical coordination efficiently, and possess excellent language skills in German (minimum C1 level) and English (minimum B2 level). Strong analytical, organizational, and team skills, along with a high commitment to quality, are also required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance core components of the SVS platform to meet evolving educational and technical requirements.
- Implement complex functional and technical specifications within an agile Scrum team environment.
- Contribute to technical planning, including architecture design, system architecture decisions, and interface design.
- Conduct code reviews, ensure code quality standards, and provide technical guidance to external development teams.
- Mentor junior developers, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues in both development and operational phases to ensure system stability and performance.
