Role Description This part-time remote Developer (Junior / Senior Engineer) role at Hult Prize at Científica del Sur focuses on building and maintaining digital tools that support program operations and participant engagement. The Developer will collaborate with organizers and other team members to design, implement, and improve web-based platforms, internal dashboards, and automation scripts. Typical tasks include writing clean, efficient code, integrating APIs, troubleshooting technical issues, reviewing and optimizing existing functionality, and supporting deployments and basic maintenance. The role also involves contributing to technical documentation, proposing improvements to workflows, and ensuring that solutions are secure, accessible, and scalable within the organization’s needs.
Qualifications

• Strong foundational programming skills in one or more modern languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Java, or similar) and familiarity with software development best practices.
• Experience with web development technologies, such as HTML, CSS, and front-end frameworks, plus basic knowledge of back-end development or RESTful APIs.
• Ability to work with version control systems (e.g., Git), collaborate through code reviews, and manage code repositories in team environments.
• Competence in debugging, testing, and troubleshooting issues, including writing and running unit or integration tests.
• Comfort working in remote, cross-functional teams, with clear communication skills and the ability to translate non-technical requirements into technical tasks.
• Organizational and time-management skills suitable for a part-time schedule, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet agreed deadlines.
• Interest in social impact, entrepreneurship, or education-related initiatives; prior experience in nonprofit or student-led projects is a plus.
