About The Role

Nightwing is seeking a Full Stack Web Application Developer SME to join our team in Herndon, VA. This role involves developing and enhancing a suite of services designed to automate enterprise-wide applications and data-centric mission management tools. The successful candidate will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of software developers, ETL specialists, and data scientists to improve existing applications and build new web services on a consistent, iterative basis aligned with Agile methodologies. This position offers an exciting opportunity for professionals eager to expand their expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) within a mission-critical environment.

The role requires active participation in integrating AI/ML technologies into web applications, designing and developing scalable solutions, and providing demonstrations to diverse audiences. The candidate will be responsible for translating stakeholder requirements into technical specifications, developing prototypes, and maintaining comprehensive documentation. The position emphasizes collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement to meet evolving user needs and operational demands.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, with at least six years of relevant experience. A master’s degree can substitute for an additional two years of experience. They should have demonstrated expertise in agile software development, including Scrum and Kanban, with proficiency in tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub. Extensive experience in building web applications using frameworks like Angular, React, or JavaScript is essential, with knowledge of Java Spring being a plus. The candidate must have a solid background in Linux operating systems and cloud computing, with 4-6 years of experience deploying applications within Commercial Cloud Services (C2S), AWS, or similar platforms like Azure, Oracle, or Google Cloud.

Additional qualifications include experience with search and analytic tools such as ElasticSearch, Solr, or OpenSearch, as well as ETL processes involving large structured and unstructured datasets. Strong skills in object-oriented programming languages like Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, or SQL are required, along with experience in microservices architecture and containerization technologies such as Docker or Podman. The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to work independently and within team environments, managing tasks effectively to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Integrate AI/ML technologies into production web applications to enhance functionality and automation capabilities.
• Participate actively in Agile development teams, adhering to sprint schedules, reporting requirements, and collaborative workflows.
• Design, develop, and conduct unit testing of code for scalable, secure, and reliable production systems.
• Create rapid prototypes to clarify requirements, test concepts, and inform design decisions.
• Deliver demonstrations and comprehensive walkthroughs of application features to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Engage with stakeholders to analyze requirements, develop user stories, and translate these into actionable development tasks.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including workflows, integrations, and compliance procedures.
• Optimize application performance, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to implement search and analytics tools, enhancing data processing and visualization capabilities.
