About the Opportunity:
The SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER, Placer Intelligence will lead AI product solutions and development efforts, focusing on the technical vision and architecture of an AI-powered location intelligence platform. This role is responsible for building production-ready solutions that transform how businesses utilize location data, overseeing full-stack development of conversational AI systems, and establishing the foundation for next-generation business intelligence tools.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with product, design, and customer teams to define engineering approaches.
Translate ambiguous requirements into clear technical plans and adapt as needed.
Design, develop, and deploy production features across APIs, data models, services, and user interfaces.
Make architectural decisions balancing immediate delivery with long-term maintainability.
Integrate AI capabilities including large language models, retrieval systems, agents, and scoped permission workflows.
Develop evaluation processes based on user queries to measure prompt and model changes.
Implement protections against prompt injection, data leaks, and inaccurate AI outputs.
Maintain production health through monitoring, tracing, debugging, and incident resolution.
Utilize AI coding tools to enhance development quality and reliability.
Elevate engineering standards via code review, knowledge sharing, and workflow improvements.
Requirements:
Over 10 years of software engineering experience delivering customer-facing products.
Proficiency in full-stack development including Python (FastAPI or similar), React, TypeScript, relational databases, SQL, and containerized cloud services.
Strong system design skills covering data modeling, API design, and scalable production systems.
Practical experience deploying large language model features and managing AI system architecture.
Familiarity with AI-centric workflows: planning, incremental development, context management, testing, and error detection.
Solid product awareness with focus on user experience and effective stakeholder communication.
High emotional intelligence and ability to navigate ambiguity independently.
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
The U.S. annualized pay range for this position is $160,000 - $190,000 USD.
Base pay varies based on skills, experience, education, location, and market data.
Additional sales-based commissions may be available for certain roles.
