About The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer to join our dynamic team at Trane Technologies. This role involves developing, designing, and implementing micro-services and tools that enhance our large language model (ARIA) capabilities. You will collaborate closely with development managers, AI research teams, and cross-functional units to create scalable, efficient, and innovative software solutions. Your expertise will contribute significantly to our ongoing projects that leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to optimize climate solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, cloud infrastructure, and AI architecture, with a passion for sustainable technology and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in software development, particularly with Python, is required. Extensive knowledge of object-oriented programming, unit testing frameworks such as pytest, and experience with debugging micro-services within AWS infrastructure are essential. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK, along with experience in Linux environments and automating tasks, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, innovative thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. Knowledge of LLM architecture, AWS managed services (Lambdas, Queues, API Gateway), and version control systems like Git will be advantageous. Nice-to-have skills include experience with FastAPI framework and machine learning research or development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and implement micro-services and tools to expand the capabilities of our large language model (ARIA).
  • Engage with development managers to discuss project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and assess the integration of upgraded software systems.
  • Update and enhance existing software systems to improve functionality, performance, and scalability.
  • Design new software programs, websites, and applications aligned with project goals.
  • Write advanced programming code, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Perform code reviews to maintain high-quality code and promote team knowledge sharing.
  • Manage project timelines, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely delivery of milestones.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation for new and existing software solutions.
  • Participate in daily SCRUM meetings to coordinate tasks and share progress updates.
  • Collaborate with AI research teams to incorporate the latest methodologies and feedback into software development.
  • Document development processes, share insights, and maintain organized records for knowledge management.
  • Assist in supervising the deployment of software components and services.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot existing services and codebases.
  • Respond promptly to troubleshooting and maintenance tickets to ensure system reliability and performance.
