Full Stack Product Engineer

A hands-on engineering opportunity to build technology that improves education

Location: Remote; 1x per month in-person

Compensation: $100,000–$120,000, depending on experience

Employment: Full-time

Reports to: Executive Team

The Opportunity

We are looking for a strong, hands-on Product Engineer who is excited to take ownership of technology development and help shape the future of the company’s products.

This is an individual contributor role that blends full-stack software engineering, product development, and user experience. You’ll work closely with the executive team to translate business and user needs into thoughtful technical solutions, while having a direct impact on architecture, product priorities, and the overall technology roadmap.

The ideal candidate enjoys more than just writing code. You like understanding the people using the product, solving problems from the user’s perspective, and seeing projects through from an initial idea to a production solution.

What You’ll Do

Product Engineering & User Experience

  • Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain responsive web applications, workflows, and internal tools.
  • Translate business requirements and user feedback into intuitive, accessible user experiences.
  • Move projects from user discovery and prototyping through development, testing, and launch.
  • Improve application reliability, performance, scalability, testing, documentation, and deployment practices.
  • Troubleshoot issues and identify opportunities to continuously improve the product and development process.

Data, Systems & Integrations

  • Maintain and improve databases supporting student and program information.
  • Build and maintain integrations with third-party platforms using APIs, webhooks, authentication, file transfers, and data feeds.
  • Help ensure sensitive student and family information is handled appropriately through strong privacy, security, and FERPA practices.
  • Evaluate technical options and make recommendations around architecture, tools, and development priorities.
  • Work with the executive team to establish technical priorities and maintain the technology roadmap.

Team & Technical Leadership

  • Take ownership of the company’s technology development function and help establish effective development practices.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior developers or contractors as the team grows.
  • Balance immediate product needs with long-term scalability, maintainability, and technical risk.

What We’re Looking For

  • 4+ years of experience in full-stack development, product engineering, or a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, launching, and maintaining production web applications.
  • Strong experience across front-end development, back-end development, relational databases, and third-party APIs.
  • Strong product mindset with the ability to understand user needs and translate them into effective technical and UX solutions.
  • Ability to take ownership of complex projects and drive them through implementation and launch.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with business and executive stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working independently in a hands-on, individual contributor environment.

Technical Environment

Experience across the following technologies is preferred:

Frontend: React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS

Backend: Next.js API Routes, Node.js

Database: PostgreSQL

ORM: Drizzle

Languages: TypeScript strongly preferred

Tools: GitHub

Why This Role

This is an opportunity for an engineer who wants real ownership and visibility. You’ll have a direct voice in technical decisions, product direction, and how the company builds and evolves its technology—while working on products that have a meaningful impact on education.
