ABOUT THE PROJECT

We're building a studio management web app for independent music teachers. The platform includes scheduling, lesson notes, attendance, messaging, invoicing, and billing, with separate portals for teachers, students, and parents.

Our goal is simple: help independent music teachers spend less time on administration and more time teaching, while keeping students motivated and parents connected.

ABOUT US

We're a two-person founding team based in Toronto made up of experienced private music teachers. We understand the day-to-day workflow of running an independent studio because we've lived it ourselves.

We've spent months designing the product, refining workflows, and validating features. We know exactly who we're building for—we're looking for an experienced engineer to help bring the platform to life.

WHERE THE PROJECT IS TODAY

We've built a functional frontend prototype to explore different approaches and refine the user experience. It is not production-ready, but it represents a well-defined product with documented workflows, feature specifications, and screen designs. The application currently runs on mock data and has no backend.

We're open to your recommendations on the best technical architecture and how to evolve the prototypes into a scalable production application.

WHAT WE NEED

We're looking for a full-stack developer who can help build the production version of the app, including:

  • Backend architecture (Supabase or a comparable solution)
  • Authentication with three user roles (Teacher, Parent, Student)
  • Secure multi-tenant database design so each teacher only accesses their own studio data
  • Row-level security and privacy best practices (the platform stores information about minors)
  • Connect the existing UI to persistent backend data
  • Stripe subscription and payment integration
  • File storage (photos, PDFs, lesson videos, receipts, etc.)
  • Analytics, monitoring, and error reporting
  • Production deployment

WHAT WE CAN PROVIDE

We already have:

  • An interactive prototype
  • A comprehensive feature specification
  • Clearly documented user flows
  • Product direction and priorities
  • Founders who are available for regular feedback and collaboration

WHAT WE'D LOVE TO HEAR

If you're interested, we'd love to know:

  • What materials you'd like from us to provide an accurate estimate (feature spec, prototypes, exports, design files, etc.)
  • Your recommended tech stack and architecture
  • A rough estimate of hours and cost (or your hourly rate) after reviewing the project
  • Any questions or suggestions you have before getting started

We're looking for someone who enjoys building thoughtful SaaS products and wants to collaborate closely with founders who have a clear product vision.

We look forward to hearing from you!
