About Xweave
Xweave is a Temasek-incubated, Jungle-backed fintech startup building the infrastructure that powers the future of cross-border money movement.
We build cross-border payments orchestration infrastructure for institutional money movers, enabling clients to move money across borders faster, without pre-funding, with full transaction traceability, and across regulated fiat and stablecoin payment rails.
As an early-stage startup, we’re building products, processes, and engineering capabilities from the ground up. If you enjoy solving meaningful technical problems, working with modern technologies, and having a direct impact on the product and company, you’ll feel right at home.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join our engineering team and help build secure, scalable financial products. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to develop features that power payment platforms while gaining hands-on experience building software in a regulated industry.
This role is ideal for someone who is curious, proactive, and eager to learn. You’ll contribute across the software development lifecycle, work on real customer-facing products, and grow alongside an experienced engineering team.
We embrace AI-native software development as part of our engineering culture. We expect engineers to leverage modern AI coding tools to accelerate development, automate repetitive tasks, and improve productivity while maintaining high standards for code quality, security, and engineering judgment. We believe great engineers are defined by the problems they solve and the value they deliver, not by how many lines of code they write.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain backend services and frontend applications for financial products, including payments, transactions, and account management.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to design, build, test, and deliver new features.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to rapidly prototype, implement, refactor, test, and document software while ensuring the resulting code is secure, maintainable, and production-ready.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues across development and production environments.
- Support production operations, including investigating transaction issues, monitoring system health, responding to incidents, and resolving customer support enquiries.
- Follow engineering best practices for security, reliability, testing, maintainability, and documentation.
- Participate in code reviews, Agile ceremonies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Continuously improve engineering productivity by adopting modern development workflows, including AI-assisted coding, debugging, testing, and documentation.
What We're Looking For
- 1–2 years of professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, with experience building backend services and/or modern web applications.
- Experience with modern backend frameworks and ORMs such as Prisma or Sequelize.
- Good understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including SQL databases, REST APIs, Git, and collaborative development workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
- Comfortable contributing to both software development and production operations, including incident investigation and issue resolution.
- Strong communication skills, an ownership mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team.
- Comfortable working in a startup environment where priorities may evolve and engineers are encouraged to take ownership beyond their immediate responsibilities.
- Strong experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Windsurf, or similar) as a core part of your development workflow—not just for code completion, but for solution design, debugging, testing, refactoring, and documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI to significantly accelerate software delivery while maintaining sound engineering judgment, code quality, security, and a strong understanding of the systems you build.
Nice to Have
- Experience building and deploying web applications.
- Exposure to cloud platforms, containers, or CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with fintech, payments, or regulated systems.
- Experience working in a startup, internship, or other fast-paced environment.
- Experience using AI-native development workflows throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Interest in building secure, scalable, and highly reliable software systems.
