About the Role

The Software Engineer II will help develop, modernize, and improve data-driven SaaS products for the insurance and Insurtech industry. This role is part of the Customer Experience development team and focuses on building modern client-facing applications and user experiences while contributing across the broader software stack. The position has a strong front-end focus, with opportunities to work on React and TypeScript/JavaScript applications, backend-for-frontend (BFF) APIs, service integrations, AWS infrastructure, and DevOps practices. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-moving modernization environment, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders, and delivering high-quality software based on product and business requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and improve software solutions that address business challenges.
• Develop and maintain modern front-end applications and supporting BFF APIs and service integrations.
• Help redesign and modernize monolithic legacy products in AWS.
• Champion AWS development and engineering best practices.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests.
• Focus on overall product quality and reliable software delivery.
• Mentor team members on software engineering best practices.
• Manage workload effectively based on project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Contribute independently and collaboratively toward sprint goals.
• Participate in code reviews to promote quality and engineering best practices.
• Support software code deployments.
• Analyze and implement business and functional requirements.
• Contribute to modernization initiatives involving prescription, health, and medical record ordering solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with React and TypeScript/JavaScript for modern application development.
• Experience developing or supporting backend services and BFF APIs using C# (.NET 8) and SQL.
• Cloud development experience with AWS.
• Understanding of DevOps practices using GitHub and Terraform.
• Understanding of Agile practices, such as Scrum.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Strong technical design, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
• Experience with microservice architecture.
• Experience with event-driven architecture.
• Experience writing testable code, including unit and integration tests.
• Understanding of test automation and its role in software development.
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting and implementing business and functional requirements.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Pay range and compensation package

• Location: Brookfield, WI, United States
• Work Arrangement: Remote
• Salary Range: $78,800 - $199,065 USD
