About the Role
Tria Federal is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to support enterprise solutions for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. This role is part of a collaborative, agile team developing modern web applications using React on the frontend and the Node.js ecosystem on the backend.
The engineer will work across the application stack, including REST APIs, microservices, cloud technologies, and NoSQL databases. The position involves designing scalable solutions, translating user needs and wireframes into high-quality applications, supporting test-driven development, and collaborating with multiple teams to deliver features incrementally.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze and understand complex business and engineering challenges
• Understand user needs and design practical, reliable, and efficient end-to-end user experiences
• Design modern, scalable, and open-source solutions and architectures across web applications, microservices-based APIs, and data stores
• Consider connected systems, interfaces, and downstream impacts when designing enterprise solutions
• Explain complex technical solutions clearly to different stakeholders
• Collaborate with multiple small teams to design, develop, and deliver product features incrementally and iteratively
• Build modern web applications using React and Node.js
• Develop scalable and resilient applications and microservices
• Explore alternatives and quickly build prototypes to validate ideas and iterate on concepts
• Champion modern application development practices and mentor team members
• Support test-driven development using automated testing tools
• Optimize applications for performance across web-capable devices and browsers
• Optimize applications for user experience and accessibility
• Work as part of a collaborative team to solve technical and business challenges
Required Qualifications
• Ability to successfully obtain a U.S. Federal Position of Trust clearance designation
• Must reside in and be able to perform work in the United States
• Must have lived in the United States for at least 3 of the last 5 years
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• At least 8 years of total experience
• 5+ years of experience with frontend technologies including HTML5, TypeScript, JavaScript, Bootstrap, LESS, SASS, and CSS
• 5+ years of experience with React
• 3+ years of hands-on experience building scalable and resilient applications with Node.js using frameworks such as Express.js, Nest.js, or similar
Additional Qualifications
• Experience with Docker and containerization technologies
• Experience with AWS services including S3, ECS, RDS, Lambda, and Parameter Store
• Experience debugging applications using monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch, New Relic, DataDog, or similar
• Experience developing modular, test-first, mobile-first, reusable React components and web applications
• Experience building microservices with Node.js
• Experience with test-driven development and tools or frameworks such as Jasmine, Protractor, or similar
• Strong experience with Git
• Experience with modern build toolchains and package managers such as Webpack, Gulp, Grunt, and npm
• Experience translating designs and wireframes into high-quality code
• Experience working in agile environments using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Slack
• Experience optimizing web applications for performance across devices and browsers
• Experience working with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB, DocumentDB, or MongoDB
• Ability to provide code through GitHub or similar platforms from personal or open-source work
• Socially accessible profiles demonstrating professional work and participation in modern collaboration communities
• Experience exploring alternatives and building prototypes to validate ideas
• One or more AWS certifications
• Proficiency with infrastructure as code using Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, or Ant
• Experience with modern web application development using more than one frontend framework, such as Vue, React, or Angular
• Understanding of CI/CD and related tools and frameworks such as Jenkins, Ansible, or Terraform
Public Trust Clearance
Many roles require the hired candidate to complete a public trust clearance process. A minimum of 3 years of residence in the U.S. within the last 5 years is required to be eligible for public trust clearance sponsorship.
Work Location
Tria Federal is headquartered in Arlington, VA, with a primary office in Baltimore, MD for employees who prefer to work on-site. Employees are located across 40+ states, and the company has many remote roles.
