About the Company
Sniffies is a location-based, interactive web platform that helps gay, bi, and curious individuals connect in a safe, judgment-free environment. Its map-based experience allows users to discover nearby people and popular meetup spots, participate in live video chats, and connect from any device with a web browser.
The company has an open, collaborative culture focused on creativity, teamwork, and making a positive impact on its community.
About the Role
Sniffies is looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join its US-based product engineering team. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on building and improving a consumer platform with approximately 3 million monthly users and 20 million messages per day.
The frontend is central to the product, powering the live map, real-time messaging, subscriptions, advertising, and the trust, safety, and privacy features users depend on. You’ll work in a modern Angular 20+ codebase, using TypeScript and technologies including Capacitor and Ionic to deliver experiences across web and mobile environments.
You’ll take ownership of features from technical design through release and ongoing improvement, make practical architectural decisions, and help maintain performance and code quality as the platform grows. This role is suited to an experienced engineer who can move quickly, troubleshoot production issues, and balance delivery speed with long-term maintainability.
The position is fully remote within the United States, with a preference for candidates working in Central or Pacific time zones.
Key Responsibilities
•Own frontend features end-to-end, including technical design, implementation, release, monitoring, and iteration.
•Build and maintain product features using Angular, TypeScript, Capacitor, and Ionic.
•Translate product requirements and design specifications into clear, maintainable frontend code.
•Ensure reliable experiences across browsers, devices, and mobile app environments.
•Write and review technical designs for frontend systems, identifying tradeoffs and recommending practical solutions.
•Lead complex initiatives involving shared components, state management, routing, and API integration.
•Optimize rendering, client-side state, and network handling to support a high-traffic, real-time platform.
•Investigate production issues using Sentry, browser developer tools, logs, analytics, and QA feedback, then implement lasting fixes.
•Reduce regressions and improve the maintainability, debuggability, and extensibility of frontend systems.
•Work closely with product, design, QA, and backend engineers to shape requirements and deliver features.
•Support less experienced engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
Required Qualifications
•7+ years of professional experience building, scaling, and supporting frontend applications in production.
•Deep, current experience with Angular 20+ and TypeScript.
•Significant mobile development experience. Capacitor and Ionic experience is preferred, while React Native or native iOS and Android experience is also relevant.
•A demonstrated track record of improving frontend performance for high-traffic, user-facing products.
•Strong understanding of frontend architecture, component design, state management, routing, and API integration.
•Strong debugging skills across browsers, devices, client-side state, API integrations, and production environments.
•Experience with accessibility, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
•Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering, product, design, and QA teams.
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience working on social media, dating, or other consumer platforms, particularly products with real-time or location-based features.
•Familiarity with mobile release workflows, app store constraints, and native bridge integrations.
•Experience building or maintaining design systems, shared component libraries, or frontend platforms.
•Familiarity with backend development workflows, especially Node.js, APIs, MongoDB, or cloud services.
•Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release operations.
Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this role is $152,000–$170,000, plus a 10% bonus.
Work Arrangement
