2. Role Overview

We are looking for a Custom Software Development Engineer – SaaS, PaaS & IoT Data Platforms, East Africa to support SolutionMall’s software customization, platform development, IoT data integration, and localized technical service needs across East African markets.

This role is suitable for professionals with experience in software development, web application development, SaaS platforms, PaaS platforms, front-end development, back-end API development, IoT platform integration, data acquisition systems, cloud services, or project-based software customization.

The main focus is to understand customer requirements, support localized software development, build or customize front-end and back-end modules, integrate IoT device data, connect APIs, and support SolutionMall’s digital solution projects in East Africa.

This is a technical software engineering role focused on customized platform development, IoT data integration, system interfaces, project delivery support, and local technical service.

3. Key Responsibilities

• Support customized software development for SaaS, PaaS, IoT platforms, web systems, and project-based digital solutions.
• Develop or customize front-end dashboards, data visualization pages, user interfaces, and system management pages.
• Develop and integrate back-end APIs, database connections, user management, device data interfaces, and business logic modules.
• Support IoT device data collection, device communication, data processing, platform integration, and remote monitoring functions.
• Communicate with customers, project teams, system integrators, and technical stakeholders to clarify requirements and application scenarios.
• Support localization requirements, including local language, user habits, deployment environment, data structure, reporting format, and service response needs.
• Coordinate with SolutionMall teams and suppliers to support testing, debugging, documentation, deployment, and project follow-up.
• Collect local feedback on software functions, user experience, technical issues, and customer requirements in East African markets.

4. Qualifications

Required

2+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Software development
• SaaS platform development
• PaaS platform development
• Web application development
• Front-end development
• Back-end API development
• IoT platform development
• IoT device data acquisition
• Database design or integration
• Cloud service integration
• System integration or software customization
• Technical support for digital projects

Familiar with at least one front-end technology or framework, such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Vue, Angular, HTML, CSS, or similar tools.

Familiar with at least one back-end language or framework, such as Node.js, Python, Java, PHP, Go, .NET, or similar technologies.

Ability to understand customer requirements, translate business needs into software functions, and support API integration, data flow design, testing, debugging, and deployment.

Good communication skills and ability to work with customers, software teams, hardware suppliers, system integrators, and project stakeholders.

Working proficiency in English.

Preferred

• Experience with IoT platforms, smart facility platforms, energy monitoring platforms, environmental monitoring systems, or industrial data platforms
• Experience with MQTT, HTTP, RESTful APIs, WebSocket, Modbus, TCP/IP, or device communication protocols
• Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, or cloud databases
• Experience with cloud platforms, server deployment, Docker, Linux, or basic DevOps workflows
• Experience in dashboard development, data visualization, alarm management, user permission management, or reporting systems
• Existing local technical service experience in East Africa
• Local language communication ability in East African markets is preferred
